South-West and Greater Western Sydney are home to some of Australia's largest Arabic-speaking communities, and many families tell us they've struggled to find a provider who understands their culture, communicates clearly, and doesn't make them repeat themselves through a call centre. That's the gap Community Disability & Care (CDC) works to close: NDIS support that Arabic-speaking families can genuinely connect with.

Why cultural sensitivity matters

• Communication without barriers. Many Arabic-speaking families find it hard to explain their needs to providers. We remove that barrier so families feel heard and understood, not just processed.
• Trust and comfort. Cultural understanding builds trust. When families feel comfortable with their provider, outcomes improve for everyone, especially the participant.
• Families feel involved. Being able to raise concerns and ask questions in your own language makes it easier to stay involved in a loved one's care.
• Better participant engagement. Participants engage more when they feel culturally safe, which supports stronger relationships with support workers and better progress toward their goals.

How we support Arabic-speaking families

• Arabic-speaking coordination. Our team can communicate in Arabic for referrals, service agreements, progress updates, and day-to-day coordination.
• Cultural matching. Where possible, we match participants with support workers who understand their cultural background, language, and preferences.
• Family-centred approach. We respect the central role family plays in Arabic culture, and take a collaborative approach that includes family in planning and decisions.
• Interpreters when needed. For anything more formal or complex, we arrange interpreters so nothing gets lost in translation.
